About the Filmmaker

Nelson Chak-Hei Ng is a filmmaker whose journey began with early internships on film sets. After studying film at Emerson College and earning a degree in International Relations from Boston University, he worked in production and post-production across Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Mumbai. In 2014, Nelson co-founded Stray Dogs Ltd., producing advertising content while pursuing short films that reflect his passion for world-building and atmosphere. His latest film, Magic Kingdom, has screened at festivals worldwide.

Synopsis

​The story is set in 1997 against the backdrop of the looming handover of Hong Kong to China. Kit, a middle-aged single parent, brings his son from Hong Kong to California under the pretense of visiting Disneyland. The son, Chun, comes to realize the real intention of the trip is for his own adoption.
