This is a student documentary produced by Riley Zhang, Amber Wu, Yida Lyu,and Serena Zheng, students from the HKU Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC), under the instructions of Ruby Yang and Uli Gaulke.

Synopsis

Home Far From Home follows the powerful bond of a South African mother and daughter living in Guangzhou, China’s so-called “Chocolate City.”

 

This documentary explores the hopes and struggles of the two Black women who arrived in China while the country sought to build a close relationship with Africa.
